Introduction |
| |
A non polluting
,thermo chemical diffusion ferritic nitrocarburising process
for increased wear, fatigue & seizure resistance for ferrous
metals. |
| |
Typical application includes crank
shafts, cam shafts, rocker shafts, cutting tools, dies, punches etc. |
| |
|
| |
Principle |
| |
The process consists of treating the components in an
aged bath of Frank Epsilon at temperatures of 540 - 570 deg. C followed
by quenching in a suitable medium. |
| |
This treatment provides a very
compact layer upto a depth of 10 -15 microns consisting mainly
of Epsilon nitrides. |
| |
The active nitrogen content in
the bath is provided by the the cyanate salts in Frank Epsilon which
are replenished using FRANK NIROGEN. |
| |
As a post treatment various finishing
process like lapping, polishing etc. can be undertaken. Alternatively
Frank Endurox may be employed as post treatment for better aesthetics
and improved corrosion resistance. |
